She is passionate to spread our mission and start being a change of this society through an interesting hobby "knitting" where one can grow their patience. Thank you to everyone who came to package their washed knit hats in preparation for Halloween! We make sure our hats are packaged with quality grade plastic packaging to ensure that preemies receive the hats in the most hygienic way possible. With their immunocompromised system, we are ultra careful and ensure that each hat is washed and dried thoroughly

Thank you Mira for being our inaugural speaker for our new podcast Born to Bump! Mira Moufarrej, a PhD candidate in bioengineering at Stanford University who has invented a blood test to predict preterm delivery up to two months before birth and a test to predict preeclampsia in the first rather than third trimester! She has been awarded the 2021 "Cure It!" Lemelson-MIT Student Prize for inventions related to prenatal and maternal health.

Born to Bump is a podcast series created by Madhatter Knits to "bump" out the barriers of women's healthcare and discuss about incredible recent breakthroughs in neonatology and maternal health with special guest speakers! We are launching our first official episode next week on Tuesday with a special guest who has made a significant impact in preterm birth and maternal healthcare.

A HUGE thank you to those who supported our fundraising efforts to CHLA's COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund as they swiftly respond to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud of our fundraising results ending in $22,307 and we succeeded over 446% of our goal!!

With a recent rise in COVID-19 cases in newborns, Madhatter Knits develops a flip-up newborn face shield to help protect the little ones from respiratory droplets. The face shields feature a flip mechanism that allows ease of access to the baby's face for feeding without removal of the entire shield. Face shields are designed to be snapped on to the head band, allowing for easy removal of the shield component for sanitation or replacement. Lastly, memory foam lining of the head band ensures utmost comfort for your precious bundle.

Our kits supply some of the main protective materials to pregnant women to lower the risk of mothers as well as their newborns from contracting COVID-19. Each kit includes face masks, nitrile gloves, disinfectant alcohol sprays and an informative pamphlet. We have donated over 700 kits to CHLA
(East Valley Community Health Center, UCLA Early Head Start, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, Arcadia Methodist, Huntington Memorial Valley Presbyterian, San Gabriel Valley Hospital, Glendale Adventist, Shriners Hospital.

During COVID-19, Madhatter Knits supports pregnant mothers Maternal COVID-19 Protective Care Kits to maternity clinics in the area kits supply some of the main protective materials to pregnant women to lower the risk of mothers as well as their newborns from contracting COVID-19. Each kit includes face masks, nitrile gloves, disinfectant alcohol sprays and an informative pamphlet.

The President and Vice-President of the Westridge Madhatter Knits Club (Lower School division), Kimberly Chang '25 and Sophia Sandman '25, visited Westridge's 4th grade class to teach their fellow students how to knit a preemie baby-sized hat! Both Kimberly and Sophia are Junior Ambassadors at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles and have been educating their peers through their club about how they can help serve the families of the premature babies in the hospital.

Westridge 4th graders take joins Madhatter Knits for their service project. They knit hats for preemies all through December and donated them to families with babies in Newborn Intensive Care Units. Kimberly Chang visited the 4th grade class to teach them how to knit hats for premature babies!

CHLA Junior Ambassadors representing Madhatter Knits raised $10,050 to raise 3 GOKarts for Children's Hospital Los Angeles. These GOKarts are portable gaming carts for patients who might not be able to leave their room/ bed. It provides a fun escape and way for them to just be kids! Child Life is grateful for the gift.

Madhatter Knits welcomes Natalina Chen to Madhatter Knits. Natalina is currently a 4th Grader at Carver Elementary School. Natalina learned to knit in merely 45 minutes. As a test to whether her beanies fit preemies, she used her American doll as a model.

Madhatter Knits has established its second chapter at Cajon High School, San Bernardino! Currently there are 20 students that have been recruited into the club. They had a very successful outcome receiving donation from teachers and the community. They have raised money from recycling and is seeking for yarn donation. Madhatter Knits joins with President Obama’s Council on Service and Civic Participation to deliver President’s Volunteer Service Award. We have teamed with the White House to become a Certifying Organization for the PRESIDENT’S VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD, a national program recognizing Americans who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to volunteer service.
